Happy Harvest Moon! Tonight we celebrate the coming of the Autumn Equinox and the abundance of nourishment our farmer friends provide for us. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to visit your local farmers and say thank you for all the hard work they do. Especially the movement to accept food stamps in the CSA subscriptions and local farmer’s markets!

Sturgeon Moon - August 2021

Happy Sturgeon Moon! This month we celebrate the largest living fossil in the rivers of North America. They likely lived with the dinosaurs! They are unfortunately also endangered because of over fishing and environmental threats. One danger is stone stacking. Yes, stacking stones make beautiful formations, but river rocks control the current. Which makes the daily commutes of our river friends difficult.

I come from a small town in Tennessee. One year, I sold everything I owned but what I could carry in a backpack. I traveled west, solo. 7 months.
Over 2,000 miles. $800. 3 Odd Jobs. Multiple towns and cities. Fell in love with coffee, mountains, bikes, Iron & Wine, and buckwheat pancakes.
I met my Husband along the way and settled in Oregon.
